Delta Blue Rye 50 50 Information

Are you looking for a lawn with a soft feel and suitable for a family household and younger children? Our Delta Blue Rye is a blend of 50% Kentucky Bluegrass and 50% Perennial Ryegrass with a soft texture and excellent aesthetic. Many parents ask what will be the most delicate ground cover for their little ones, and we tell them our Blue Rye 50 50 is best, soft to the touch and not giving “paper cuts.” The Delta Blue Rye is a special grass type due to its tolerance to drought, heat, disease, wear and tear recovery, disease resistance, winter adaptations, shade tolerance, and highly aesthetic and uniform look year-round. There are many advantages to the mixture of Bluegrass and Ryegrass; where one type may not withstand certain conditions, the other remains surviving to compensate for these differences. The Delta Blue Rye is ideal for sports applications, commercial properties, and residential purposes. The Delta Blue Rye 50 50 comes on a highly organic peat soil base. Our Delta Blue Rye 50 50 is also our top choice for home sales due to its highly aesthetic, uniform growth, and year-round green color.

Suggestions for Maintenance of the Delta Blue Rye

  • It is always recommended to use starter fertilizer before sodding the lawn.
  • Proper irrigation, averaging one inch of water per week
  • Mowing the lawn to maintain a height of 1 - 2 inches

  • Blue Rye Sod Drought Tolerance

The Delta Blue Rye’s dense cover enables it to maintain moisture and recover from damage caused by drought conditions. It also prevents any water loss during those dry conditions. Adequately watering the lawn and using fertilizer will help ensure it keeps its green color year-round.

    Blue Rye Sod Heat tolerance

The Delta Blue Rye 50 50 is resistant to heat, particularly during higher-heat conditions of summer. The thick, dense green cover and deeper rooting system absorb heat and keep the grass healthy. Our Delta Blue Rye should be watered every other day and watered daily if conditions exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.22 degrees Celsius).

Blue Rye Sod Wear Resistance and Recovery

The blend of Bluegrass and Ryegrass gives the Delta Blue Rye 50 50 a resilient nature and tolerance to withstand complex conditions such as foot traffic, direct sunlight, or pets. The nature of this unique sod mixture gives it a tough cover that is able to fill patches from damage caused by wear and tear, given adequate time to recover. It is also distinguished by its narrow sod blades, creating a uniform cover to protect the grass from damage. Additionally, its high self-healing capacity enables it to repair itself from damage.

    Blue Rye Sod Disease Resistance

The Delta Blue Rye is fairly resistant to diseases because the blend of the bluegrass and ryegrass creates a thick rooting system. The Delta Blue Rye is therefore tolerant of disease-causing pests. It should be noted that constant over-watering can result in unsuitable conditions such as grubs, fungus, and root rot.

    Blue Rye Sod Winter Adaptions

The cross-rooting nature of the Delta Blue Rye 50 50 allows its tough make-up to withstand various winter conditions. The ability to endure cold conditions also makes it winter-disease resistant. Both Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial rye are cool-season grasses, allowing them to stay green all year, avoiding dormancy periods.

    Blue Rye Sod Shade Tolerance

Any grass requires sun for growth and sustained health, but some sods are sensitive to too much or too little sun exposure and varying degrees of shade. The Delta Blue Rye 50 50 is 40% tolerant to shade conditions, making it ideal for its ability to adapt to varying environmental exposures in both sunny and shady situations.
